ASSOCIATION
PROFILE
The
inaugural meeting at which the French Brittany Gun Dog Association
was officially formed was held August 30, 1997 in a barn.
At this meeting officers and directors were elected and
the mission statement was written:
This
corporation is organized not for profit and is organized
exclusively for the purpose of providing an association
for owners and breeders of French Brittany spaniels, to
provide a newsletter to its members, to provide an opportunity
for members to participate in events and activities, to
strive to maintain the French Brittany spaniel for its unique
qualities and characteristics, to promote responsible breeding
practices that will protect the breeds traits, dependability
and health, to certify and register dogs and ownership of
such, to provide information on and promote the breed, to
seek affiliation with European, Canadian and International
Brittany Spaniel Clubs.
The
organization was incorporated in the State of Missouri in
November of 1997. The original articles of incorporation
were authored by non other than our current President, C.
Frederick Overby, counsel for the Corporation.

As
you can see not much has changed since the inception
of the club. Our mission statement remains almost exactly
as originally conceived with only a few minor adaptations.
Most notably that we no longer maintain a registry since the
Memorandum of Understanding with UKC was ratified.
