The design for the Masterbuilt ThemoTemp XL and 30” Propane Smoker was an exciting challenge. This smoker is the first of its kind in the industry not only in its functionality as a product, but also in its design for packaging, which enabled the units to be packaged in a much smaller format than standard 40” and 30” smokers.
One of the most important aspects of package design for a manufacturing company is also being knowledgeable of the many stringent regulatory requirements that must be called-out and displayed on the carton.
The design must be visually appealing, while being an effective marketing tool; informing retail customers of the value and benefits of the product and at the same time incorporating regulatory images and verbiage and not losing the aesthetics of the layout.
Also, part of the design is the POP (Point of Purchase) label that is included on the window of the unit which is a supplementary marketing tool for when the unit is assembled for retail floor space. This layout was designed using both Photoshop for imagery, and illustrator for layout.
